Mearns Spring bnm6877jhp Fettercairn Mearns Scotland summer Mill Kincardine Strathfinella gorse jet trail sky off the B974 Cairn O’Mount road just before the Laurencekirk turn which passes the Mill of Kincardine and the site of Kincardine Castle. B974 Fettercairn to Cairn O’Mount road, one of the main routes north from The Mearns to Deeside passes the Clatterin Brig restaurant and opposite the restaurant is the road to Auchenblae passing St Palladius Church and Drumtochty Castle in Glen Drumtochty which has interesting Forest Enterprise walks through mixed mature woodland and after leaving the forest the road enters Strath Finella passing a delightful small loch near Glensaugh, used for fishing and often visited by ducks and swans. Strathfinella Hills are at the foothill of the Grampians overlooking the wide flat fertile plain of The Mearns viewed here from large stands of flowering gorse with a different yellow of rape seed in a field below the forest line.
