Most famous for the references to the Labyrinth; a comparison of its mortuary and temple complex to that at Knossos by Herodotus although little now remains new excavations are underway to determine what might still exist. This pyramid was built after the king’s first attempt at Dashur was abandoned owing to subsidence problems. This photograph shows some of the excavated tomb shafts near the pyramid some dating back to 3000BC and artifacts from these were once on show in the Karanis[Kom Aushim] Museum, now closed.
