Loanhead Daviot zxc4660jhp Loanhead Daviot Bennachie Stone Circle entrance Historic Scotland Scottish Aberdeenshire located near the village of Daviot, west of Inverurie on the B9001 Rothienorman Road. Well signed from the road via the village, with a Historic Scotland carpark and easy access and at the entracne is this view of Bennachie. One of the largest sites in the North East with evidence suggesting early use over a few centuries but possibly stopped around the Beaker period c 2000BC. There is evidence, along with much bone and skull fragments, of extensive cremation use and a possible wooden mortuary structure from the finds of postholes in the middle of the central area. One of the monoliths has five cup-marks in a line on its inner face.
