Dunnideer Hillfort Framed Larch Tree Railway Line Southern Aspect Insch Road is a prehistoric site but the remains now visible were one of the oldest stone castles in Scotland, built around 1260. Situated on one of two hills both of which show evidence of early use as fortified strongholds, they are near Insch in Aberdeenshire. It is accessed by a steep but short climb from a minor road to Clashindarroch Forest and there is a small signed carpark area.
