Karnak Thutmose Obelisk EG074937jhp Ancient Egypt Thutmose Thutmosis Granite Obelisk Karnak Temple Transverse Hall is in the central area of this huge sprawling site located near Luxor City centre on the East Bank of the River Nile and Karnak is the largest religious complex on the Nile. This view of Thutmosis 1 southernmost obelisk, one of two remaining standing obelisks, is from between the fourth and fifth pylons Transverse Hall fourth pylon wall looking west. The obelisk the smaller of the two remaining obelisks still standing weighs 143 tones and reaches a height of 23m and is the first encountered as one walk through the awesome Hypostyle Hall of Seti 1 and Ramses 11.
