The fertile land supported the communities that built and later serviced these cult areas where the Valley Temple for instance would be the receiving place for offerings in memory of a particular Pharaoh after he became a God. The modern world needs food and these fertile areas still border the road from Cairo to Saqqara offering Egypt a substantial export business from dates to potatoes.
