Invercauld River Dee estate westwards Beinn A’Bhuird mountain snow winter Braemar road Aberdeenshire photo taken after passing the Old Brig O’Dee enroute for Braemar. The bridge is cared for by Historic Scotland and is one of the many military bridges built after the Forty Five Rebellion and that carried troops across the Highlands. This was built by Major Caulfield 1752 although often called a General Wade bridge who had started the process making a military road system many years earlier. The bridge is located just east of Braemar and this view is from the northern river bank looking to the White Mounth. Located between the estates of Balmoral, south of the river and Invercauld to its north, this view is taken from the side of the North Deeside Road just beyond Invercauld House on the road to Braemar.
