 Luxor Egypt Shinxes Avenue Karnak Recent Excavations Walk Upright Photo have started on the remains of covered part of the Luxor to Karnak avenue of sphinxes and by 2007 over sixty had been uncovered. They appeared to have been deliberately toppled in late Roman times and have been well preserved and many Roman relayed antiquities and buildings have been identified. Remains of an ancient stone road have also been found and a stela indicating the importance of a High Priest of Amun Ra called Bakenkhonsu which has also indicated new dating evidence for the reign of the Pharaoh Sethnakhte [Setnakhte] who ruled between Ramesses 11 and 111 for now it appears four years at least.
