The central outline is of the mountain called Lochnagar, fourth highest in Britain. Claimed as a favourite viewpoint of Royal Deeside for Queen Victoria and hence it being called the Queens View. In the centre of this photograph is the hill with the Bronze Age Tomnaverie Recumbent Stone Circle built on it. Loch Kinord Islands TO813011jhp Loch Kinord Deeside Scotland viewpoint crannog island prehistoric manmade Aberdeenshire lying beneath Hill of Morven and located to the north of North Deeside Road mid way the River Dee valley between Aboyne and Ballater. Nearby the loch is the Burn O'Vat an impressive gorge with visitors centre and public toilets with a viewpoint of the Loch from which this photo was taken. There are two islands, one had a Castle constructed on it while the other is a Crannog, a prehistoric man made island. Osprey can sometimes be seen fishing in the tranquil waters of this SSSI. This photograph was taken in 2004 using my first digital SLR, a Fuji S2 Pro with telephoto lens. Loch Kinord Islands TO813010jhp Loch Kinord Deeside Scottish Burn O’Vat viewpoint islands castle crannog prehistoric lying beneath Hill of Morven and located to the north of North Deeside Road mid way the River Dee valley between Aboyne and Ballater. Nearby the loch is the Burn O'Vat an impressive gorge with visitors centre and public toilets with a viewpoint of the Loch from which this photo was taken. River Dee Balmoral 199631jhp River Dee Royal Deeside Balmoral estate summer roadside Lochnagar mountain located in Aberdeenshire Scotland and viewed by the North Deeside Road from the roadside near to Balmoral Castle where this famous salmon fishing river passes amongst the trees. Looking westwards in the direction of Lochnagar, Scotland’s fourth highest mountain, its distinctive outline above the forest to left of centre horizon line. The road continues westwards towards Inver, Invercauld and eventually Braemar. Old Dee Brig Invercauld 199621jhp Old Brig O’Dee stone bridge downstream river Dee Invercauld Scottish White Mounth hills and is one of the many military bridges built after the Forty Five Rebellion and that carried troops across the Highlands. This was built by Major Caulfield 1752 although often called a General Wade bridge, the person who started the process many years earlier. The bridge is located just east of Braemar and this view is from eastern side of the bridge, looking upstream with the golden colours of autumn larch and silver birch. Bennachie Hill to the west of Inverurie by the River Don is a distinctive landmark in central Aberdeenshire with its unusual peak man made with its partially vitrified Pictish fort remains and easily accessed from a visitors centre on the Chapel of Garioch road between Monymusk and Pitcaple. This was built by Major Caulfield 1752 although often called a General Wade bridge, the person who started the process many years earlier. The bridge is located just east of Braemar and this view is from eastern side of the bridge, looking upstream with the golden colours of autumn larch and silver birch.
