Ruined Scottish Stone Croft Cottage Spring Daffodils Roadside Cabrach Dufftown road on the western border of Aberdeenshire and Moray in the Highlands of Scotland. Fewer ruins are seen today as increased prosperity has enabled many to be restored and modernised for use as holiday cottages or second homes. Known as ‘butt & ben’ houses they feel increasingly derelict as the earliest Highland Clearances and more modern farming practices denuded the countryside of farm labour and the population moved nearer to large towns and cities seeking employment.
