 Karnak Temple ancient Egyptian First Pylon Enclosure Wall mudbricks ramparts is located near Luxor City centre on the East Bank of the River Nile and it the largest religious complex on the Nile. In this photo we look at the south wing of the first pylon from the viewpoint of the inside of the enclosure wall of mudbrick porbably preceding the unfinished pylon construction by Nectanebo 1 around 380 years BC.

Here taken from the Chapel of Garioch road to Monymusk near the main visitors centre. Although taken in February it gives the impression of almost spring like colours and sunshine.

This was the year after it was opened to the public after restoration and safety work has been carried and there was still some scaffolding standing on the south boundary wall. These photos were taken on the 20th September, 2008 on which a cloudy start turned into some glorious sunshine, blue skies and interesting clouds so made the walk up worthwhile.

 Deeside Lumphanan Peel motte mound summer Scottish roadside view Aberdeenshire located to the west of the village of Lumphanan. The village has historical connections with a cairn to the death of Macbeth in the woods nearby in 1057 as well as this 12th Century Peel signifying its strategic importance associated with ancient drove roads and various passes from the flat lands of Deeside northwards into Strathdon and the lands of Northern Aberdeenshire. The original defences are now held to be turf ramparts rather than a palisade and the large outer wall was found to be 18th century agricultural work rather than original barricades creating a moat. On the top of the large flat area is the foundation outline of a rectangular Halton House dating to the 15th century. A small car parking area is available for the visitor and there is a very informative information board provided by Historic Scotland.
