Royalty Free photos of exhibits from the Cairo Egyptian Museum taken before current bans with slide film in available light not to studio quality

None is of studio quality, being handheld with existing, usually extremely poor light and using slide film, pushed Fuji 400asa to get a suitable aperture and shutter speed. Most of the photos are from the Tutankahum exhibits while the rest are items that interested me as I explored this wonderful and extensive collection, requiring many more hours if not days and is only hinted at during the usual one or two hour visit made on a package tour. Karanis Open Air Museum 6429EG07JHP Karanis Kom Aushim Ancient Egyptian City Fayoum Statue Exhibit Pharaoh on the north eastern edge of the area known as Fayoum and dates from Ptolemaic times through to 500AD. Two Roman dated temples survive in reasonable state and the southern one is dedicated to the crocodile Gods of Pnepheros and Petesuchos. Many finds have been made especially of life in a residential area with houses scattered throughout the site and there is also a fine Roman bathhouse. A small museum now closed has been replaced with an open air area with a selection of artefacts adjacent to the main walk to the temples as illustrated in this photo. Penne Rock Tomb EG961499jhp Penne Pennuit Tomb deputy Wawat Lake Nasser Egypt Ramses V1 tourists as with most of the sites along the shores of Lake Nasser has been relocated to save it from flooding when the High Dam was constructed in Aswan in the 60’s. Interior paintings are in colour and general preservation is good. It is short walk from Amadah, the Temple to Amun-Re and Re-Harakhte and slightly further along is the the Temple of el-Derr. These three sites are usually visited on one visit from the cruiseboat and do involve some walking on desert sand often in extreme heat. Not visited usually as part of most tour packages it is an interesting visit enroute for other interesting Delta sites such as Tel Basta and Tanis. A few ruined stone ones remain most with missing roofs and used for little else than a sheep pen in wintry weather and along the Cabrach are the remains of a once thriving community long since cleared as agriculture has become more mechanised and crofting uneconomic. The hill lies between Kincardine O’Neil and Torphins, a pleasant cross-country route with wonderful views of Deeside from Clachnaben, Lochnagar and Morven. It used to be possible to see Craigendarroch and the Pass of Ballater but a small forest plantation has blocked that view.
