The tower is the Prop of Ythsie built by workers on the Haddo Eseate in memory of the 4th Earl who did much to improve the well being of those on the estate. Often these wrapped bales are standing separately whereas these are joined in one long snaking pipeline reminiscent of the early days of oil developments when the large overland pipes were buried southwards from St Fergus through Aberdeenshire. This photograph was taken in 2002 the last year I used slide film, either 35mm or 645 as my main medium for landscape photography. It is still representative of the general countryside despite their age and is chosen because of the lovely light and colours as it can still be on the right day.
